converting .str to .mpg slow on some channels?

Postby almararn » Sun Mar 01, 2009 6:06 pm

Hi, I'm new to this program, but it seems to be fairly straightforward. I extracted about 20 (non-scrambled) recordings from my thomson HD box and started converting them via the batch remultiplexing in +extract 0.3.0.4
The first few programs recorded from ITV2 convert in only few minutes, but when it got to the E4 recordings it all of a sudden takes forever. It's stuck un "pre-processing" for a about 30 minutes, my pagefile size increases to 1.6 gb and processor utilization is only about 5-10%.
Do some channels need this pre-processing?

Interesting - All I can think of is that E4 have always used some weird encoding parameters such as number and positions of I-frames. This resultas in the spurious "jumpiness" of rewind on this channel.
How does something like ProjectX cope with the STR file? As Copy+ is not being actively developed, I would suggest using that if it works rather than waiting for a fix!
