Problems with MPG file after conversion

Postby ccarmock » Tue Oct 05, 2010 9:24 pm

I have used Extract+ 0.4.0.6 to extract a BBC programme, which is in SD from a hard drive from a Sky HD box.

I then use the inbuild conversion part of Extract + to convert this to an MPG file. The process completes, but if I then try to play this file in Windows Media player there is just a bacl screen and no sound.

The progress indicator moves though.

I am running on Windows 7 / Ult / 64 Bit.

Any help appreciated.

The built in converter in +Extract is quite basic and doesn't cover all the formats that broadcasters use (even though they are all using MPEG2 for SD).

I recommend this free and fast Windows application that does a great job converting:

For +Extract to handle all variances that broadcasters use I would have to license a transcoder and thus increase the license to end users. Decided to leave the encoding choice to users.
