Copy files TO the Sky+ drive

Postby arronhuk » Sat May 16, 2009 11:51 pm

Not got the machine yet but I'm upgrading the HD and want to copy some DVDs over to the HD so they are there whenever I want them (We watch a lot of detective series and have them on DVD so want them ready without getting off my arse). Is there any way of putting file onto the drive instead of ripping from the drive?

Hi, thanks for your post.
I'm sorry it isn't possible to add third party content to the Sky box. Unfortunately it's a lot more complex than just "copying the files on" as a lot of other proprietary Sky files (most of which I haven't a clue about BTW) would have to be correctly prepared before a Sky box will successfully play a recording.
May I suggest you invest in a hard drive media server/player, most of which will play copied DVDs from their HDD directly?

Thanks for the reply, I guessed as much but wanted to ask anyway. May use my technomate to do that or try to get my old xbox back working again for that then.
